The Dover School Board tried to teach creationism in a high school biology class and it cost them $1 million.
"so worked up over this"
So if you try to teach this nonsense in a high school classroom, you will definitely find some people who are "worked up over this". So please just keep teaching it on Sunday and in the "Creation Museum" where it belongs.
"Darwin's Plantation"
Let's follow the logic. Here is a scientific theory. Here is someone (like Hitler?) who justifies his evil actions by claiming this theory supports such actions. Therefore the scientific theory is wrong. Oops. A rather big non-sequitur there. But he didn't waste millions on a stupid movie.

Apparently you felt it was worth it to continue to post.
Firstly, regarding the spending of money on a film: Who cares if millions were spent producing the movie - this is not a government produced film. And one could argue there are much bigger wastes of money on unimportant films of no merit to culturally relevant dialog ("Wanted" for example). How much of that money could have gone for much worthier causes - adoption, feeding the poor, rebuilding in Indonesia or Peru, cancer research, etc., etc.
Regarding "Darwin's Plantation": this blog did not even attempt to cover all the details and aspects of how racism connects with evolution, so your "A + B = C = bad logic" statement is a rather simple attempt to squash dialog without engaging in it.
Further, both systems - Creationism and Evolution - are faith systems. Neither is reproducible to the extent that it can be called scientific law. (Star Trek II is after all fiction) ;)
This debate will not be resolved in my humble little blog.
The evil actions of any person (Hitler) or people group dedicated to 'ethnic cleansing' do not nullify a theory - but the theory is used to justify their actions, and this based on logic.
As a brief aside: I will be yet another voice within the Church that admits that the Church (as a whole) has not handled 'race' relations as it ought, with some even buying into the "lesser man" arguments of evolution and thereby justifying slavery and other forms of racism, connecting Darwin's thoughts to the "Mark of Cain" or Noah's son Ham (both of which are embarrassingly shoddy exegetical arguments). It is an abysmal blemish in the history of Christ's Church, and is still not dealt with as it ought: that all humankind, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age or ability are created with equal dignity and value meant to reflect and reciprocate the existence and character of the Living God. Run on sentence? maybe.
Back to the theory of evolution: If evolution is realty and if it is thought to be the gradual advancement over time of any(all) species, it logically follows that one segment of that species is more highly evolved and the others lesser. If fact, modern genetics indicates that biology is breaking down - not advancing. DNA shows us that mutations can occur - but these mutations are usually harmful and lead to the degradation of the organism (pure bred dogs/cats for example)not its overall benefit. And these mutations have yet to be shown a change in species altogether.
Further, there are many more than a few other problems in the realm of logic that evolution does not address (or intend to). Take for exmaple the decaying size of the sun. Google it, then extrapolate that number back millions/billions of years to account for evolution, and you will find a solar body so large that it's own gravity destroys the evolutionarily accepted earth. This is but one example. Evolution assumes that some organisms instantaneously mutated separate biological functions that apart form each other would destroy the original organism (the machinations of the bombardier beetle for example).
(And why is evolution almost always anthropomorphically discussed? "Evolution saw fit to require us to sleep at night", "Evolution designed the opposable thumb so that...")
I could continue, but this blog is not entirely a Creation vs. Evolution Blog and so I do not intended to reduce it to an ongoing tit for tat debate. I merely posted that the film was worth my $10 to see.
Both systems are ultimately non-reproducible faith based. Don't even get me started on the assumptions that have to be made to make radio carbon dating 'work' to justify evolution.
As a follower of Christ and the Bible I will continue to stand on the conviction that the Bible is in fact true and that many proofs can be found in all realms - from science to archeology to the historical records of those who remained unbelieving until their deaths. I remain unmoved that as the Scripture records, sin entered the world with Adam, and then death. All death. If evolution is true, and thereby death enters history prior to humankind, then the cross of Jesus the Messiah is unnecessary, for sin no longer is the cause of death but merely a part of the 'natural' order. Upon our deaths you and I both will no longer need our faith systems: evolution or creationism. Atheism, Agnosticism, Theistic Evolution, Creationism, even the Christian faith will all cease - because our experience will then be sight. if I am wrong and evolution is reality, Hitler, Dahmer and others like him face no justice and mankind is now not to be restrained from anything we would call 'evil'. There cannot be evil without a standard of truth that transcends any human culture. If I am wrong, I vanish into nothingness, with no harm to any beside myself. If, however, I am right that is a whole other matter... We now return to the regular random nature of this blog.
since your lofty 'scientific' arguments have degenerated into name calling (religious fanatic, idiot) I won't be allowing any more of them. Discussion is one thing. Harassment is another. Find another blog to troll.
Nah. It's not even worth the comment "This is a worthless, lying piece of propaganda" on your blog. This is obvious since no one else has bothered.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the establishemnt position gets so worked up over this.

You're going to love the review of and endorsement of "Darwin's Plantation"

ReplyDeleteIt seems that when I leave the reply:
"You're an idiot."
you don't allow it to be posted.
